SAPARA HOPES FOR WORLD CUP CALL

Highly rated midfielder Marek Sapara left Norwegian giants Rosenborg for an adventure at Turkcell Super Lig side Ankaragucu last winter and the Slovakian midfielder is hopeful the move will improve his chances of making it to the 2010 World Cup.

"I am very happy at my new club. I needed to change, and wanted to play in bigger leagues and for stronger teams," 27-year-old Sapara was quoted as saying on the official UEFA website.

"I hope this will help me get a ticket to the World Cup finals. I spoke about my transfer to the national team coach Vladimir Weiss too. He agreed it was a good move, though of course I have to play regularly.

"I am eager to reach my peak and to go at full throttle at Ankaragucu. I am glad that countryman Robert Vittek plays alongside me. It's always better not be alone."
