LAVEZZI RETIRES FROM SOCCER

Former PSG forward Ezequiel Lavezzi is hanging up his boots at the age of 34 after playing his last match with Chinese Super Lig side Hebei.
The Argentine, before moving to France made his name at Napoli together with Slovakia international Marek Hamsik. The duos time coincided with the rise of Napoli from being a perpetual midtable team to once who has grown to qualifying for the UEFA Champions League on a regular basis to challenging Juventus for the Serie A title and affording to fire Carlo Ancelloti.

Lavezzi also enjoyed his time at PSG being one of the many big money purchases the Parisians made in hope to level up with the crème de la crème of European football.
His partnership with Uruguay forward Edison Cavani remains one of the most electrifying ever witnessed in Parc de Princes rivalled only at the time, by the one in Bavaria between Frank Ribery and Arjen Robben.

Cavani is still at PSG while the old guard of Ibrahimovic and Lavezzi have made the rounds at other continents. Despite the arrival of Mbappe and Icardi, Tuchel’s decision to keep Cavani around is testament to his longevity as a professional.

The forward has been at the club long enough to know when exactly his services isn’t needed anymore and once that time comes, he will make the switch. To MLS most likely.
Lavezzi’s old guard at Napoli on the other hand appeared to have dispersed. With Marek Hamsik being the last member of such formidable group to dispatch. The Slovakian only left Naples this year and will forever remain the most loyal professional to grace the grace of Naples in recent times.
Lavezzi also enjoyed time with the Argentina national side but it was at the later stages of his career.
