Slovakia can make it to the World Cup

He was speaking after the match that saw Slovakia beat Malta.

He said that Scotland is still close behind and they will take advantage if ever his team make a mistake. It is important that they continue to win their games to keep their chance of making it to the World Cup alive.

Jan Kozak said that Slovakia has some good players and that they are following instructions nicely, but there is always the danger that the players become complacent and take their opponents lightly. He said that there is no small team in world football at the momenta and that it is important to remain focus on the pitch.

He wants his players to respect their opponents and ensure that they give their best on the pitch from the first until to the last minute.

Slovakia which is in the same group as England believes that they can make it by finishing second in the group. He said that his team wants to build on the success that saw them participate in the last Euros and that it would be a wonderful achievement for this group to make it to the World Cup in Russia as well.

However, Jan Kozak admitted that it would not be an easy task with the group consisting of good footballing nations such as Slovenia and Scotland as well. This is why he wants his players to focus on the so-called small games and ensure that they get maximum points as there will be tougher games coming up in the future.

He said that it is important that his players remain fit as well if they want to qualify.

BURKE LEARNS FROM SLOVAKIA SNUB

RB Leipzig’s Oliver Burke has said that he was gutted with the fact that he was not played against Slovakia after he played in the World Cup qualifier against Lithuania only a few days earlier.

BURKE LEARNS FROM SLOVAKIA SNUB

The 19-year old was baffled as he thought his pace and power gave the team an advantage but Coach Gordon Strachan though otherwise.

He took to his Twitter handle to post “silent man” but quickly deleted the tweet. The youngster worth £13 million said he was disappointed with the decision of the coach.

“Of course, it was disappointing to be dropped for the Slovakia game. But I’m just really happy to be involved with Scotland. I’m still young and to be with the first team at international level is a great feeling.

“It’s a brilliant achievement for myself. I’ll hopefully just keep showing what I’m capable of and, when I get the call – or if I get the call – I’ll do my very best for the team,” the young player said. Tickets for Scotland’s international home matches are available through this site, whilst away matches are done by a ballot system on the SFA website.

He added that it was not “nice” to miss the squad but that he would stick with the manager’s decision. He said he hopes to make up for it when he gets an opportunity to play.

Burke has been facing a lot of recent. From German lesson, to moving his family to Germany and playing off the bench for Leipzig, it has not been an easy ride for the young man. Leipzig are chasing Bayern Munich as Ralph Hasenhuttl’s men think they can snatch the crown this year.

Burke admitted that the move has been a difficult one but added that he remains focused on thriving.

“I’m learning everyday here. From a football point of view, I want video analysis every day. Even on my phone, I’m constantly looking where I can improve my game. I feel I’m getting better,” he said.

Slovakia beats Scotland

This is the second match in a row where Scotland failed to take maximum points after their draw with Lithuania.

Slovakia started the match well and put Scotland under pressure from the kick-off. They will score the first goal through Robert Mak to take the lead. Scotland fans were hoping that the goal will spark their team to life but unfortunately, nothing happen and they will concede another goal.

Again Robert Mak will be their tormentor in chief when he managed to evade Russel Martin to score the second goal. This goal will be a major blow for Scotland as they will be unable to come back into the game.

Scotland will concede a third goal when Adam Nemec will score on a header that will give the Scotland keeper no chance.
The defeat leaves Scotland third in their group 3 points behind leader England putting their qualifications for the next World Cup in danger. Scotland has missed the previous two World Cups and will be hoping that they can make it this time, but so far there is little to suggest that the side will improve.

Ever since the defeat pressure has been mounting on the manager as many people feel that the team is no longer progressing under Strachan. There is still a lot to play for in the qualifying campaign, and some pundits believe that the only way out is to change manager.

Scotland will need someone that has good experience of international football and also someone that can motivate the team and organize them on the pitch. Indeed the goals conceded against Slovakia were mainly due to poor organization.

Kozak Targets Win against Scotland

Extremely poor form at the start of the World Cup qualification campaign has led to Slovakia being in a dire state even after just only four games. Manager Jan Kozak says that the only hope for the national team when it comes to qualifying for the World Cup 2018 is to beat Scotland in the next game.

It represents one of the toughest fixtures for the national team in the qualification campaign apart from facing England. A good start to the campaign is always essential when it comes to qualification and Slovakia certainly did not achieve this after back-to-back defeats.

Admittedly, Slovakia did not have the easiest starts to the World Cup qualification campaign after coming up against England and Slovenia in their opening two matches. Losses from the Euro 2016 campaign severely dented their confidence going into these matches. Now, though, they have an opportunity to recover with opposition like Lithuania, Malta, and Austria set to offer little resistance going forward. In order to take advantage of these features, Slovakia have to win against Scotland. The top two teams qualifying for the World Cup with the second team having to go through a play-off place.

Surprisingly, Lithuania currently occupy the second spot with Scotland and Slovakia further behind. “We have got ourselves into this situation with two unnecessary defeats. I think we could have done more. So we need to win this match if we want to keep hopes of qualifying. It is up to us to get out of this situation. If we want to have the hopes to qualify for the World Cup in 2018, we need to get some points in this match. But it is not easy to win matches at international level,” said the manager, who has been in charge of Slovakia since 2013.

SLOVAKIA DEFENDER ACCUSES REFEREE OF WRONGDOING

Slovakia defender Jan Durica accused the referee of wrongdoing when he awarded ex-Reds defender Martin Skrtel another yellow card for a foul when England played Slovakia.

The 10-man Slovakia side were not able to recover, gifting the Three Lions one step in Russia in the 2018 World Cup qualifiers.
England won the game narrowly with the help of a Red player Adam Lallana who scored in stoppage time, sending fans wild in excitement. The win gives new coach Sam Allardyce a brilliant start as manager of the side, and it means England can take full control in Group F.

Skrtel was already on a yellow card, but stamped on Harry Kane. Referee Milorad Mazic gave another yellow card, meaning marching orders for the Slovakian. An obviously angry Durica opines that Slovakia stood no chance from the onset since just one country is suppose to move on from the group.

“There is only one place at the World Cup. Why should Slovakia go there, when we have England in the group? Of course, they will always prefer the stronger team. Probably the referee knew exactly how to do it. I think that the referee waited for Skrtel to make a foul,” Durica said. The comments from the disgruntled player could earn him a ban from the world footballing body, FIFA.
However, Kane has defended the action of the referee. “There were a few challenges that I felt could have earned him a yellow card, but it didn’t come. It was just a matter of time, it was a silly thing for him to do because he was on a yellow. The ref has seen it and I think it deserved another yellow card,” Kane quipped. The Spurs striker, who is yet to get a goal this season, has been taken off set pieces duty by the new coach, as England continues with restructuring following their Euro 2016 woes.

Reaching the round of 16 is huge for Slovakia

The Slovakian national football team just barely managed to secure a qualifying spot in the group stages of the 2016 Euro’s. Slovakia sealed the 3rd spot of Group B which was enough for them to advance into the later stages.

After 3 matches had been played, Slovakia sealed a total of 4 points with 1 victory, 1 draw and 1 defeat. It does not sound as something very impressive or successful but it was enough for them to snatch the 3rd qualifying spot from their group as they had gone through a much better run than Russia as they drowned in that same group with only 1 point from 3 games.

Slovakia would later go on to face Germany in the round of 16 and lose 3-0 but this doesn’t take away anything from what was considered to be a successful run from the Slovakian national side in their journey through the 2016 UEFA Euro’s.

“Any defeat is painful but there should be a good feeling that we got to the last 1ast 16 and played the world champions,” he said, noting that Germany’s last loss had come against Slovakia, a 3-1 defeat in a friendly on May 29. We’ve played them twice now. One win and one loss, so that’s okay,”

“We might have done more to attack but we have a strong team and things to build on. We need to just cheer up and look to the future.” Slovakia’s head coach Jan Kozak said.

Jan Kozak was proud of how his team performed and now just wants to focus on the path that lies ahead for his national side as they have to face off with England for a World Cup qualifying match and considering how poor their track record of qualifying for the World Cup has been, their recent 2016 Euro’s run can serve as fuel to continue performing at a high level and ride that momentum throughout the rest of the year.

Slovakia have just announced the squad for the Euro 2016 and there are no major surprises with the likes of Marek Hamsik included without fail.

Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel may be unsure of his future with the Premier League outfit, but he is set to captain the national team as always. The only a few for Slovakia may be the lack of regular gametime Skrtel has experienced in the last few months. On the contrary, this may have helped him to get some much needed energy ahead of the Euro 2016. After the increase in the number of participating teams to 24, the Euro 2016 is expected to be a fast paced tournament with frequent matches.

Manager Jan Kozak has a tough task on his hands to get on the team out of the group, which features top teams like England. Wales and Russia are the other teams in this group. The final 23 man squad was announced byKozak just days after the surprise 3-1 victory over world champions Germany. This was only a warmup game and Slovakia are unlikely to give too much importance to the result. Still, fans will feel confident after having seen the team achieve such a mightily impressive result against a strong team.

Former Chelsea midfielder Miroslav Stoch is also one of the players included in the squad along with Sampdoria defender Milan Skriniar. The latter made his debut only in the game against Germany and he has played only three club matches since January. He made the move toSlovan Bratislava during the last transfer window. Slovan Bratislava striker Adam Zrelak,Trencinmidfielder Matus Bero, and Almaty defender Lukas Tesak are some of the players to miss out on the final squad after having been included in the provisional squad. This will be Slovakia’s first appearance in the European championships since 1993.

Slovakia earned a deserved draw against the Republic of Ireland

Slovakia managed to end the Republic’s home winning streak by drawing 2-2 in Dublin.

Both teams will be at the Euros in France later this year.

Slovakia opened the scoring in the 14th minute by Stoch following a fantastic counter-attack. The Republic will not be really pleased with the way they conceded the goal since it came out of a mistake by a player.

However, the Republic of Ireland’s goalkeeper Rob Elliot will injure himself when trying to save the shot and was stretchered off the pitch. This will definitely jeopardize his chances of making it to the Euros finals.

His injury will definitely motivate his teammates, and they will take the lead on a penalty. Shane Long will convert the first penalty in the 21st minute. Slovakia was infuriated with the decision of the referee to award the penalty after the goalkeeper seems to have clashed with a Republic player.

The second penalty was less controversial with Skrtel clearly lunging at Long having been beaten by the striker’s change of pace. Despite getting a hand to it, the Slovakian goalkeeper will not be able to save the shot.

However, Slovakia never gave up in the game and was threatening through Marek Hamsik and Sabo particularly. They will create some opportunities to equalize but will fail to do so because of poor decision making

They will ultimately be rewarded for their good play in the 45th minute. Peter Pekarik will cross into the box only for McShane to deflect the ball past his astounded keeper. The teams reached half-time with the score 2-2.

Following substitutions after the break the match decreased in intensity and with the substitution of Long, the Republic lacked penetration up front. It was Slovakia who controlled the game without creating too many chances and the match ended 2-2.

Slovakia is one of the newcomers for the 2016 Euro’s

This is the very first time that the Slovakian national football team will be competing in the European Championship since claiming their independence and separating themselves from Czechoslovakia.

Slovakia has showed potential in the past as they managed to get passed the group stages of the 2010 World Cup which is a fairly impressive result, especially taking into consideration the fact that they finished ahead of Italy and even claimed a victory over the Italian nation.

The Slovakian national side has a few well renowned players such as: Martin Skrtel and Marek Hamsik. Skrtel is a veteran defender who performs for the Premier League side Liverpool meanwhile Hamsik is a regular starter for Napoli. Not all the coaches of national teams have the advantage of being able to utilize the experience of players who are competing in some of the biggest leagues and clubs in Europe but Slovakia’s Ján Kozák has a few players that know what it’s like to perform in top competitions.

“It is important that the team has not reached its best. There’s still room for improvement. We’ve been fighting for something and succeeded. Now we need to do the same at the championship.” Slovakia’s Ján Kozák said as he talked about how big it’s been for his team to qualify for the 2016 Euro’s but the Slovak manager also said that there still is more growth and enhancement that needs to be done in his squad.

Slovakia’s upcoming 2016 Euro’s matches are scheduled to take place on June 11 as they face off with Wales and 4 days after that Slovakia will play against Russia and their last opponent is England in a match that will be played at the Geoffroy-Guichard Stadium.

Ján Kozák’s team managed to qualify for the 2016 Euro’s by finishing as runners up in Group C behind Spain and they are now aiming to reach even further.
